We are not affiliated to any religious institutions, as we believe very strongly in the art and power of music. To this end, we do not discriminate against colour, creed, or social standing.

Our classes are one-to-one, or in a group of two so that there is individual attention to each student. Our motto ‘ Nurturing India’s Future Musicians’ aims to do just that, with dedicated, committed and qualified teachers taking on the task to educate and inculcate the love of music and its related arts in equally dedicated and committed students!

We encourage but do not force students to appear for various external examination boards. We also have our own internal assessments which are on the tough side, even if we say so ourselves!

Our Choirs

FEMUSICA - Founded in February 2019 by Neecia Majolly, Femusica is an all-women’s choir with the aim of performing music by only women composers. It had its successful debut on Sep 7th 2019 in Chennai. Inspired by the #MeToo movement, the choir has performed music by the mystic Hildegard von Bingen (Middle Ages) right up to compositions by Neecia Majolly herself.

MMT CHOIR - This choir was personally hand picked by director Neecia Majolly through auditions, and started training since March 2011 for the purposes of performing Handel’s ‘Messiah’ that featured in our Festival of Classical Song. The choristers are from varied cultures and backgrounds who have all come together to share the love and fellowship of some of the greatest Western classical music ever written. Formerly known as The Camerata, the choir has given several performances since, including the South Indian premiere of Carl Orff’s ever popular ‘Carmina Burana’, besides Durufle’s and Mozart’s ‘Requiem’ amongst many others, garnering admiration for its interpretation and tuning from visiting foreign artistes.

MADRIGALS, ETC. - Madrigals, Etc. was founded in 1999 and has performed to rave reviews ever since. The only choir in India to perform music specifically from the Middle Ages , Renaissance and Early Baroque, this choir, directed by Neecia Majolly, has the honour of releasing the first ever Western Classical Music album in the country in 2009, ‘the renaissance begins’.
The choir has toured extensively all over India, introducing audiences to music rarely performed in India, and gathering quite a few fans in its wake!

Competitions

The National Kawai Junior Piano Competition
In association with Theme and Kawai Pianos, this junior piano competition is open to young pianists up to 13 yrs of age, and up to Grade 3 level. Held every April, this is a competition to foster high standards of playing for junior pianists. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic put an end to this competition. However, this competition will be revived soon.

The Outperformers
In association with The Asawari Music Foundation until 2017, this is a national singing competition for the youth aged 12-18 in Western Classical / Music Theatre / Pop Vocals held every year in October.

Both the competitions have been written by Founder-Trustee Neecia Majolly.

Outreach

We have recently launched our Outreach programme where we give small performances/workshops at orphanages and old age homes. If you would like to be on our roster of performers/teachers, or like to contribute articles suitable for the places we visit, do drop us an email.

One of the main reasons the Trust was set up, was to provide a small monthly income to musicians who are either too old or too ill to make a living out of their art. This unique pension fund for aged and infirm musicians was introduced just a year after the Trust was formed, and we have been helping musicians ever since. Do get in touch with us if you would like to help!

We are also setting up a scholarship for aspiring music students who would like to pursue their further studies abroad, but are unable to , due to financial constraints. Indian banks in general do not give student loans for music studies, so we thought we should step in to help. Do get in touch with us if you would like to provide assistance to these well deserving students!
